Freddie Gray

Cops can be charged for crimes now. Its probably the single biggest event in the history of this nation since the civil rights movement. Cops have always been above the law. Since the beginning. And most of the time it didn’t matter. But now people are realizing that not only do they have to stop and apprehend criminals but they have to treat them in a manner that’s civilized.

When cops beat and kill human beings under the guise of an arrest theyre going to be charged for it like the rest of us would be. I cant tell you how much this makes me want to just cry. Theyre so abusive and so horrible to so many people that it’s catching up to them. Its wonderful.

These people they arrest and kill are shitty people. They absolutely are. But its a police officers job to arrest them and let the justice system punish them. They love to think they’re the initial justice. A beating, a knee in the head on the pavement, shooting them, kicking, punching, tasing them is the initial justice. THEN they get sent off to be punished by the criminal justice sytem.

No where in our laws allows for them to be the initial punishment. No where does it say they’re allowed to beat and kill people when they’re shitty people. They are not the law. They are law enforcement. Today is so huge. This year is so huge. Cops have guns and unlimited power and massive numbers and all the sudden they have consequences…it’s amazing. Its so relieving. It’s so nice to know a cop will have to think about their actions. They will have to rethink drawing a gun on someone with a broken tail light. Or beating someone to death because they ran away. If running away from police was justifiably punished by death that’s what the law would be. The perpetrator will get extra time for it. It’s not the police officers job to beat them in the head with a baton until death. It’s just not. And now they go to prison for it.

  1. I agree with and share your feeling that this is a hopeful beginning. But I also lived in L.A. during the Rodney King case. They charged the cops, tried them, and then acquitted them. That was the precursor to those riots. I’ll be a bit nervous until the day they get sentenced, if they are even found guilty.
